Multilingual and international pop music

I haven’t posted in quite some time and I apologize for that.  I’ve been completely consumed with the launch of our new Magellan International School here in Austin.  It will be the first dual-language, IB program in Austin and one of the few (arguably the only one) in the State!  Anyway, on a separate topic, the other day I heard a wonderful new song by Italian pop star Laura Pausini.  The song is called “Primavera in Anticipo” (EN: “the expected Spring”) in Italian and it is sung as an Italian/English language duet with British star James Blunt.  Well, not only did they record in in Italian/English but also in Spanish/English!  You see, Laura is not only a pop star singing in Italian but also a star in Spanish.  Whenever I hear this song (you can see the video here) I get this wonderful feeling of internationalism and multilingualism.  A British singer and an Italian singer singing a duet in Spanish (and English).  That is what I want my kids to grow up with and consider “normal”.  Plus, I think the song rocks and my 6 and 4 year old kids love it too!
